Promoting parks and recreational activities, cultural activities and a healthier lifestyle for the citizens of Des Plaines. Provide scholarships for kids to participate in a variety of Park District activities.

The Des Plaines Friends of the Parks is a volunteer organization that:

• Organizes events to raise funds and provides volunteer participation opportunities.
• Educates the citizens of Des Plaines about the value of quality parks and recreational services.
• Stimulates further public interest in parks and recreation and the preservation of park and recreational resources.

About Us:

The Des Plaines Friends of the Parks is dedicated to the enrichment of the youth of Des Plaines by sponsoring fun events and providing scholarships for their participation in Des Plaines Park District programs. The Des Plaines Friends of the Parks has awarded more than $87,000 to children allowing them to participate in camps, programs, and trips.

Officer Election Notice

Notice is hereby given that the Des Plaines Friends of the Parks will be having an open election of all officer positions: President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary; at their March 5th, 2025 Board Meeting. Any member of the general public is eligible to run for any open positions. If you would like to be considered for election, you must give notice to the Secretary in one of the following ways: calling 847-391-5089, or emailing friends@desplainesfriendsoftheparks.org. You will need to clearly state which office you wish to run for as well as provide your name, current address, and phone number. All entries for running must be in by 5 p.m. on Friday February 28th, 2025. Any further questions can be directed to the contact info above. 

2024 Golf in the Dark at Lake Park

Golf in the Dark is a fun evening of glow-in-the-dark-golf, with food & drinks, prizes & raffles—all for a great cause! Plus, it’s a great opportunity for businesses to help sponsor our organization, and provide much needed scholarship money for Des Plaines youth. 

Whether it will be your first time or 10th time, we welcome you to join us celebrate Golf in the Dark at Lake Park’s 10th Anniversary on September 28th, 2024, as we try to raise even more money to help the Youth of Des Plaines!
